MINI Takes the States 2016

A 15 day, epic journey of MINI Coopers across the USA. The rally, sponsored by MINI USA, officially started in Atlanta GA and finished in Palm Springs CA. My trip took closer to 3 weeks as I drove a round trip, starting and finishing in Lexington KY. Can't wait to do it again!

  • anything with M&Ms must be good
  • curving bank similar to the tracks, which I did have a chance to drive up on the next morning (at the track). Earlier in the evening the bottom floor was full of MINI people & food, the museum was ours to explore for the entire evening.
  • day 2, July 10th - headed into Charlotte Motor Speedway
  • Surrounded by MINIs again, love it.
  • And we have a problem...MRA to the rescue. Problem diagnosed on site and a temporary solution - fan fuse blown, replace with headlight fuse. We met up again a few hours later to install new fuse, and now I have a spare.

  • pretty sure this is Kyle & Kowalski. MINIs have a funny relationship with Minions (Mini on). And you should always wave to other MINIs.
  • So we're in the back of the pack today
  • Driving with a purpose - raising funds for Feeding America
  • Headed towards Richmond VA for a night on our own. Sometimes you drove with a big group after leaving events, other times just a few. and if you took an off the beaten path you may be by yourself but never for long as you were bound to catch up with another MINI or be passed by one.
  • Instead of going into Richmond, I opted to visit Bill & Linda in Montpelier. Took me a moment to place the photo as I didn't remember traveling too many gravel roads, mile long driveway in this case.
  • Day 3 - Richmond International Raceway
  • Isn't that the truth.
  • There were a few of the teardrop campers being pulled by MINIs. Some chose to camp/tent along the way while others booked hotels. I ended up sharing hotel rooms with three "strangers", a great way to make new friends and reduce expense.
  • after everyone's had breakfast, signed in and listened to announcements, we head back to the cars and mill obout for a bit while the pit crew picks up tents and such so everyone one is ready to leave at the same time.
